Hi friends! For this post I have to include this bit: this is a sponsored post - but please be assured all opinions are mine, as always.
Oh the holidays, how I love them.
I love the shopping bit a little bit more than I should, but I love finding the perfect gift for someone - and sometimes I pick something up for myself while on the job buy who doesn't?
I've decided to make my first gift guide and here's what I've tried to do: gifts for all budgets and ages for the beauty lovers that you know. I've never done the gift guide post as this is my first Christmas with a blog but I really enjoyed writing this one and hopefully I can remember to do it next year! Or maybe...hmm a Valentine's Day one in the mean time?
I'm getting ahead of myself.
Here we go: a gift guide for a beauty lover!
DIY Face Mask Kit
Know your bestie's skin needs? Don't mind a little crafting? Then this is perfect!
These kits are perfect for any budget because you decide what you're putting into it, and what it goes it. Personally, I love mason jars and I think they would be adorable to present a face mask in.
Pinterest will be your saviour if you want to gift this, and you can mostly get ingredients at grocery stores. Huge bonus points if you include the mask already made but you could give them a kit to do themselves, they even sell mini measuring cups, spoons and brushes just for this!
Beauty Holiday Collections
Beauty brands kind of make it easy for your shopping (maybe not your wallet) when they release their holiday collections.
These make great gifts because usually they're limited edition which makes them a one-time buy and they have an extra hint of glam!
I wrote a post about the Quo Cosmetics Holiday 2016 collection that I received to review, and it's seriously one of the hundreds. Okay, hundreds might be dramatic, but a lot of brands have them and there's a very strong chance the person your buying for has a brand they love that has one released!
The only con to this buy? They go fast, so you have to move faster.
Ultimate Hair Care
Okay I know, giving shampoo doesn't sound like a good thing to do but hear me out!
Do you have a friend that dyes their hair all the time? Constantly straightens it? Maybe uses that curling rod a little too much? If you know me at all you should be nodding your head because I'm guilty of all three.
The thing is about luxury sets, like the Mythic Oil collection by L’oréal is that it's not something I would think to buy for myself, and that's how I thought it might be a great gift. I've had a chance to try all three and I love the masque and leave-in spray; they've really helped with my damaged hair and make brushing it after showering a much smoother process.
This gift is certainly practical but adds a touch of pampering too!
Gift a Groupon
You don't have to buy the person a physical gift to let them know you're thinking of them!
I'm sure you've heard of Groupon by now, I was a little late on figuring out exactly what it was. My best friend from Ottawa (hi Kendra!) had to lay it out for me and my goodness you can find anything on there, it's crazy.
If you're shopping for a beauty lover who has every product under the sun, or at least enough that you're not sure what else to get them, you can always get them one from the Health, Beauty and Wellness Groupons section.
Of course there are ideas for everyone on there, not just the beauty lovers, so you could cross more than one person off your list.
Tools of the Trade
Up until very recently, I was lost when it came to makeup brushes. I had a bunch but just didn't love any of them, not enough to use them daily anyway.
And I attended Spark Sessions and somehow managed to walk away with $500 worth of Tweezerman brushes...amazing.
These brushes are a great buy for a beginner or someone who already has a makeup collection underway and I find them reasonably priced. My faves are the flat top foundation brush and the mini contour brush, I use them daily.
The At-Home Mani
Meet my current fave product!
If you really know me you know exactly why I don't want to make a trip to the salon to get my nails done, but I do love painting my nails. And this is where the Sensationail comes in handy!
See the reason I love this kit because, like I did here, you can use your own polish so you can already use your polish collection to get the perfect mani, without having to leave home.
Pair the kit with some polishes and a hand cream to really make their holiday!
Skin Care Musts
There are beauty lovers (me not included) that love beauty and all that it has but like to keep it simple. We're talking maybe mascara, a light gloss - nothing too complicated. But what I'm sure they do love to buy? Skin care products.
Old or young, skin care is important. I am sure I'm not the first, and certainly won't be the last, to fill you in on that. The thing with skin care is that there are so many options that it can fit into whatever budget you have planned! Right now I am madly in love with Clarins, especially the Beauty Flash Balm! I use it every night before I go to bed.
Skin care is just as important for a girl like me who wears a full face (almost) every day but I usually tend to want to splurge on makeup more than skin care which makes this a great gift to be giving, it's something a person usually forgets to indulge in!
And if all else fails...
Nothing on this list made you think of the person you're buying for?
Gift cards might be your way to go. I have a love/hate relationships, I'm a sucker for personal gifts. But even I can't deny that they will make that hard-to-buy for person happy!
I hope this helps you out a little bit as you fit in your last minute shopping! If you can believe it, I'm already done, certainly a first for me.
Let me know what's on your wish list this year - beauty related or not!
