Your Most-Asked Beauty Questions Answered

I have a weird habit of collecting new products that can fall into three categories, and I don't know when this started.

I like trying new things, I'm very bad at resisting a sale and I just love them. But I do a have a handful of products that I use daily (religiously!) and know that they'll never let me down. Luckily, and I hate the word but I'm going to say it, I've been blessed with good skin (thanks mom and dad!) save for redness and dry skin in the winter, and that honestly saves me from having to buy a bunch of things...but I do anyway.

But this post isn't just about skincare, it's on the top three things I get asked about - my hair, my skin, and (drumroll here) my teeth. Usually in the form of:

"How do you get your teeth so white?" (mostly because I'm always smiling and or have my mouth open for eating)

"What do you do to make your hair so big?" (always makes me laugh)

"What foundation do you use? Your skin looks ____!" (#flawless, but really it's all in the care)

Luckily those three things are the first thing people notice about me so it's not too strange when people ask, and I'm more than happy to tell you what's up.

Now let's get to it: The Full Routine.

The Skin

We already know I like my scrubs and toners, and I get them from a place back home, and after the washing is done it's time for these three to shine.

This little guy is small but mighty, and used for emergencies only. Even though I tend to have good skin, that doesn't stop me from having a bad skin day either. This gel goes to work fast and it's clear so it's more or less a secret agent working on your behalf. It helps with redness, swelling, and scars - triple threat.

Speaking of redness, that's basically my face at all times. Sure, BB creams and foundations and colour correcting help a ton, but I make sure to apply this daily to help in the long run.

I will admit (click on the picture to see for yourself) that the price tag is a little high for this new grad so I've been trying to find a replacement once this baby runs out. If you know of one let me know in the comments!

I cannot go a day without this, both in the morning and at night. I love it so much that I actually snagged it from my mom after trying it (sorry mom, kind of) and won't venture away from it anytime soon. I've tried what feels like a zillion face cremes over the years for moisture and this is the only one that keeps dryness at bay, you can feel it sinking on in to your skin and quenching it! Now, I'm pretty sure it's more of a body cream than a face creme but still...I swear by it.

I know, these masks aren't natural or fancy and trust me I am on the hunt for some that are but I love face masks! My favourite bedtime routine always involves a mask and a book with a mug of tea.

Peeling masks will forever remind me of American Psycho, and that might be why I find them so fun. It might be the peeling, or it might be that it's actually working, but your skin does feel cleaner afterwards.

The paper masks are a huge new trend and even though they make you look like something out of a horror movie, I've enjoyed the ones that I've tried. This particular racoon one is to help you look less puffy in the morning, which I sometimes need after too much or too little sleep.

Clay masks are an old school fave. I honestly have no idea if this one actually helps with stress, but I love the teal colour and the sea salty kinda smell. Careful if you leave it on too long though, it can tint your face blue!

I bought all of these at Wal-Mart, they have a huge selection that's reasonably priced.

The Hair

Just as I'm always trying new cremes, I'm always trying new shampoos and conditioners.

This brand though, it has done no wrong.

I'm allergic to sulphites which this brand steers clear of and they have a variety that leaves me wanting to try every single one. I recommend these to friends all the time, and I've only ever heard good things back! You can certainly customize what one you use depending on what you're looking for, I tend to go for anything that will help my coloured hair catch a break.

This here is my secret to having my blonde hair verge on a greyish-white tone.

It's strong (I'm talking changes the colour of your nails strong) and you don't have to use it every time you shower, although sometimes I do if I'm really fearing the yellow. I don't know why I can't find a Canadian site to link y'all to but I do get mine at Shoppers for around $10, and the bottle lasts a long time considering a little goes a long way.

The most common question I get, my friends to fellow bloggers to random people on Insta, is how do I get my hair to have so much volume. And dry shampoo, my friends, is the way to go.

This is, and I'm not sure if this is the right word for it, perfect for more of a subtle volume between washes. It certainly refreshes your look and keeps you going until your next wash.

If you want the big volume that lasts all day (or basically until you shower or get your hair wet) you go for this can. It will give you Regina George worthy hair without all the secrets.

Note: If you have dark hair, or at least dark roots, dry shampoo can make your hair look chalky! There are versions out there that have colour in them, so try those!

The Smile

The picture is a little blurry and I'm not sure why, sorry!

After years of braces, we're talking four, I take extra good care of my pearly whites. And I keep them pearly white by using a whitening tooth brush, and this two step toothpaste. I've tried a few variations of whitening toothpaste over the years, but I've been the most impressed with this one, and I love it even more since I grabbed it on sale so make sure you watch for it.

Naturally, if you're going to have a white smile you need to pamper those lips of yours! This balm has a slight gloss to it and the sugar crystals do a great job of keeping the lips smooth. I like to use this before applying any lipstick, and after taking it off, but I carry it in my purse too just in case. Sadly, and for the first time with any balm, I just completely ran out of it and now it's at the top of my list of things to buy.

And these, ladies (and gents, maybe) are my go-to daily products as of late! Stay tuned for a review on the new YSL Vinyl Couture mascara, it's nothing short of fabulous.
