It's been a minute since I blogged, and I'll be sure to do an update on life when it's all calmed down for a bit. My laptop broke, I traveled, I got a new job, I'm being featured in a few magazines - that's the short version! Let's call it a teaser for now.
A few weeks, maybe even a month ago, Vicki and I got together to shoot some OOTDs and I'm finally getting my second one up!
I know summer is wrapping up, it flew by way too fast, and we're already gearing up for fall but let's wrap it up with one more outfit that's perfect for a summer's day.
This casual Cap Sleeve Shirtdress from GAP is light and breezy, comfy, and hits just above the knee.
Confession: that's a slip underneath. You're supposed to button it up all the way, but I like wearing it open as well! Nothing wrong with showing just a little but more leg...right?
I'm wearing a large, but it goes up to an XL - this is certainly a dress that is on the larger size, but naturally with the buttons you have to be weary of the sizing!
I love the pocket details, and that you can cinch it to give it a bit more shape with the belt. It has a slight nautical feel with the stripes - which is what makes it so perfect for summer.
Accessory wise, I kept it just as casual.
A perfect Payless find - Christian Siriano loafer-styled flats. I bought this last season, and now we're heading into fall, but the neutral colour will be perfect to wear into next season.
But I want to talk about the beautiful (and unique) watch I sported for the shoot from Tense Watches!
I'm wearing the Hampton - a rosewood and dark sandalwood beauty. A beautiful, Canadian find - I grabbed info from their site to share with other watch lovers.
The watch comes in seven (!) different varieties, to suit anyone's style, and this unisex watch shows hour, minute, and second markers on a round dial.
The Hampton is made from 100% recycled or reclaimed wood. All tense watch pieces are hypoallergenic, adjustable in size, and made in Canada with Miyota Watch Movements from Japan.
Pretty fancy, huh? I'm excited to pair it with a cozy sweater going into my fave season, and keep your eyes peeled on a post with more details about Tense! I personally think they'd make a great gift to your groom (or groomsman!), but you know I'm always in that wedding state of mind.
This photo might be a bit blurry, but it's my favourite from the shoot!
I'm still getting used to taking fashion type photos, it's a lot easier when it's your friend on the other side of the camera though.
It's not that I mind getting my picture taken, but I'm not so good with posing. I like the candids! But they don't always go as planned...well, because they're candid.
I have a few things planned for the fall that will involve a lot of photos being taken and that's both exciting and intimidating but the whole 'practice makes perfect' outlook totally applies. In this case, perfect just means trying not to fidget too much and make sure that you're showing what's meant to be shown - like accesories and such!
If you have tips on such things, feel free to send them my way. Until then, I will be looking to fellow bloggers for inspiration and fully faking it 'til I make it.
