I'm not a very fashionable person.
Which is why my OOTD posts are few and far between but I am getting better at finding clothes I love and want to show off - which leads to more posts!
It's a win/win, if you ask me.
See, I like shopping - but more so the accessory side of things. I love purses and shoes, jewelry and sunglasses. Why? They always fit! Which sounds amusing, but it gets really old going in and out of stores trying to find something you like and feel comfortable in.
Joe Fresh is a fave brand of mine and the only 'straight' sized store I can be 98% sure I'll find something.
Sure, sometimes I'm a L, sometimes I'm an XL, but they're true to size. What I mean is that most stores have a large, sure, but that large is a medium in other stores. It's all very confusing, trust me, and frustrating. So while Joe Fresh doesn't have a plus section, I can easily shop and I'm usually a size 1x/2x depending, so that's something to keep in mind!
When Alanna (the brilliant and beautiful blogger behind Classy on the Run) said we should do a few shoots in one night I was excited because I had just bought a few summer essentials from the one and only: Joe Fresh.
I wasn't kidding when I said it was about the basics.
Why the brunch bit?
I will always go for comfort, and style comes in sometimes. If I'm going to be sitting, chatting, and eating my weight in french toast then I want to be comfy!
The JF Slub Knit Tee is the perfect fitting match with comfy, yet dressy, Tie Short in JF Midnight Blue. Together the pair would cost you $43, and I was lucky to hit a sale during my shopping spree - and they always have great promos online!
You can never go wrong with a basic tee and shorts, and I love the tie on the shorts - you can tie it in the centre, or off to the side, and I love the whimsical feel a bow adds to any outfit. They're pleated, cuffed, have pockets (real ones, no nonsense here) and so soft and comfy!
But to kick it up that extra notch for a brunch with the girls? It's all about the shoes. Now I can't handle crazy heels, in fact I can't handle much higher than these...
...but even a tiny heel makes you walk a little taller, and feel a little more fancy. I picked these ones up from Hudson's Bay for my graduation from Humber and they're my go-to for wedding shows and special events (and rooftop photoshoots).
In the summer I always keep my makeup bronzed and glowy - it's easy, lets me fake somewhat of a tan, and for some reason I am always running around...even though I think you're supposed to relax in the summer? Who knows.
For the three shoots I wore alllllll Benefit, and I'll have a video coming soon with Alanna about our five fave products! It'll be my little Youtube debut, you might not be excited for that but you bet I am.
What's your go-to brunch spot in Toronto? I just went for my first time last Sunday (I know, I'm a little behind) to Macho Tex Mex Radio Bar and it was delish! Tell me where I should check out next!
