This might surprise you, considering my love of all things mermaid related, but The Little Mermaid isn't my favourite Disney movie! That number one spot is claimed by Beauty and the Beast, and I think it will remain number one forever.
I freaked out when Beauty and the Beast was released in 3D a few years back, so I can't even describe my excitement when it was announced there would be a live action movie coming our way. As any true fan would, I had my worries because of course I had really high expectations!
I was very lucky and went to see the movie with a fellow blogger before the release date (we were the first Canadian audience to see the film!) and it didn't disappoint, not any moment of it. Now I'm patiently waiting to go see it a second time, and will certainly be buying it on DVD as soon as it's out.
I don't know if it's because I have weddings on the brain always but the entire time I was watching, especially the gorgeous ending scene, all I could think of was how you could have a stunning Beauty and the Beast themed wedding - or at least make nods to it throughout your big day. Because really, who wouldn't want a tale as old as time to be their wedding inspo?
Sure you can go all out Disney if you wish, or you can have subtle hints of the magic touches for your wedding. After all, it's your day as always!
If you head on over to Pinterest and try and find a wedding dress that reminds you of Belle, you'll find a million. I'm not the first person to think up this inspiration and I won't be the last. This Alfred Angelo dress, for example, is from a Disney collection.
It's really the silhouette that will remind you of the Belle gown, but you can take on the yellow too if want to really be memorable.
Who says the bride gets all the Disney magic?
Your man probably doesn't have all that fur, and probably wouldn't be up to wearing the exact same suit that Beast wore during their classic dance.
But that's okay!
You can make it more modern but borrowing the navy and yellow, and leaving the frills behind. I love navy suits, Beast related or not, and they're a popular choice by the groom.
Navy suits also photograph extremely well. There's just something about them that stands out more than the traditional black, yet they still hit that elegant style note.
As with any wedding, it's all in the details.
If you want just a hint of Disney in your wedding, your decor is the easiest way to go.
For Beauty and the Beast just think roses and you're set, but books and carriage clocks and candlesticks are all ways to hint at the movie. And tea sets! Equally as charming as they are fitting.

Even just adding these rose cupcakes is a way to add some Belle into your day, and they look delish so even the non-Disney lovers wouldn't mind I'm sure.
Or have your wedding cake be decorated to look straight out of the fairy tale.
If you want to make the extra special for your girls too, you can gift them a trinket that even Belle would want to wear!
Okay this is for the couples who really want a magical wedding, and maybe have a very large budget as well.
Getting married at a castle is fit for a princess and Casa Loma, pictured here, in Toronto would be amazing. I've never actually been to Casa Loma but I want to once the weather warms up a bit!
If you don't happen to have a castle nearby (because really, most of us live that provincial life), that's totally okay, just play up your decor to make it seem like a more royal affair.
If you're going to stick to a theme, you have to commit from the beginning. And the best way to let your guest know is with your invitations - they often match the wedding colours anyway so stepping it up a notch with the wording and rose is just another level of magic.
What better way to let your loved ones know that you want them to be your guests?
The ideas for favours for the Beauty and the Beast theme are endless.
My personal favourite is a teacup like our little friend Chip! I'm all for wedding favours that can be used, instead of just sitting there. Don't get me wrong, I know every couple will think the world of their favour idea but realistically I wouldn't need my own life-sized enchanted rose.
But a tea cup? Perfect.
Disney themed weddings have always been around (Disney fans are dedicated to say the least) but I really think the there's going to be a huge rise in the trend of Beauty and the Beast weddings coming up and I am so here for it. I also think it's doable to take a movie you loved as a kid and step it up a bit to make it a little more grown up and a little more chic, but still keeping the charm of the fairytale you fell in love with.
