I have a love/hate relationship with winter.
Love because I love snow and the holidays and everything does feel magical, truly.
Hate because my skin is constantly dry and my lips get the worst of it. Plus it doesn’t help I like a good dark lip come fall and my lips can only handle so much. Chapped lips are, in my humble opinion, one of the worst things of winter! So maybe I’m a tad dramatic, but I’m not totally wrong.
If you’re with me on this then you’ll like my three (easy) tips to show your lips the lovin’ they deserve.
Scrub, scrub, scrub
This is beyond key, especially when I’ve been wearing long-lasting lipsticks.
I scrub my lips usually twice a day to exfoliate them, and always with my toothbrush too! I am still desperately holding on to my mint lip scrub from Witch in the Woods (hint for Christmas, Santa!) but when it runs out I’ll switch back to my trust e.l.f Lip Exfoliator which isn’t expensive at all and so easy to use!
I am a face mask addict but lip masks are new to me!
There are so many types out there to help give your lips a mini spa treatment, Sephora has a collection going but if you want to get really creative (and a little messy) you can make one at home! Head on over to Pinterest and just search ‘DIY lip masks,’ there’s a bunch with different purposes.
Lock it all in
I’m sure you recognize these lip balms, right?
I mean if you hang out with me enough you’ll see I have endless colours (my fave being the Sweet Mint) all of which go missing at various times which results in me buying even more. It’s an endless, sweet-smellng cycle.
These little guys pack a punch too: they have vitamin E, soothing shea butter, and jojoba oil and are hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested annnnd paraben and petrolatum free!
Moisturizing is key in the cold weather! It makes steps one & two worth it!
Not that I’ve ever had a mistletoe experience but I would like to imagine these steps would be helpful if you’re gearing up for one!
