How to Get Your Groom Involved

Your wedding day should encapsulate both yours and your partner’s style, personalities, and interests.

But this can be difficult to achieve when only the bride is involved in the planning process. Wedding planning is traditionally completed by the bride and her family and many are overlooking tradition and want their future husbands to be more involved. After all, it’s going to be the biggest day of their lives too!

But, while there are exceptions, many grooms don’t find the idea of planning a wedding to be too exciting.

If you want your man to get more involved in the process, use these ideas to help you.

Ask for his opinion

Many brides don’t ask their grooms for their opinion on wedding-related decisions.

This is often because they don’t think it will interest them. Grooms like to feel needed and telling them how important their opinion is to you will make them take notice. So instead of making all the decisions yourself, ask your man for his thoughts and suggestions. The more you do this, the more open and confident he will feel about sharing.

You can then discuss your options together which will help to take some of the stress out of the experience.

Play to his strengths

While many of us don’t want to admit it, our grooms will be better at some things than we are. So why not use this to your advantage during the planning process?

Think about what your groom is good at and what interests in and how this can relate to your big day. He might be brilliant at woodwork, in which case you could ask him to create wooden centrepieces or a cake stand. If he’s passionate about music, why not ask him to create a reception playlist. If he’s a computer whiz, maybe he could create your wedding website or design your place cards. Assigning tasks that excite him and that he can execute successfully is bound to make him want to get involved. It will also give you fewer things to worry about.

Schedule a planning date night

It will be easy for your man to switch off if you bombard him with endless lists and tasks. So why not make the process more fun by scheduling a weekly planning date night?

This should be a night that is dedicated to organizing aspects of your wedding. You can watch a movie and create items like these cheap lace wedding invitations by Pure Invitation. You might prefer to spend a night outside eating dinner and discussing ideas. Even dedicating time to search the internet together with a glass of wine will make planning feel more romantic and enjoyable.

If you continue to do this each week, it will also become something you both look forward to.

Encouraging your groom to get more involved should be far easier if you use these ideas. His input could make your wedding day even better than what you originally had in mind. Plus it’s a brilliant way of spending time together before you become a married couple!

Happy planning!

Hey love! I’m so sorry, but I just found the image with google because I’m obsessed with navy suits and it had the free rights to use.
My best idea is too look at ‘real weddings’ on wedding magazine websites and they often credit where the suits are from!
