If you haven’t heard of this brand you either live under a rock or don’t go on Instagram enough, maybe both. They’re a beauty brand based out of Cali known for their products that certainly on the cheaper side in the makeup world.
I’ve had my eye on ColourPop for a few years now, which is about when they launched, but this summer I finally got my hands on a few of their lip products – my weakness.
I can confess that I’ve already made a second order so there will definitely be another ColourPop post coming your way sometime in July but for now let’s focus on the first haul.
ColourPop gets huge bonus point for their packaging and cute little notes they sneak in for you. I hadn’t even opened the products and I was head over heels.
Feelin’ the Neutrals
Normally I am all over a bold, red lip. It’s almost a trademark of mine, if I’m allowed to declare that.
But this summer has me feeling allllll neutrals, alllll the time! Maybe it’s my girl-crush on Kylie, maybe it’s because they look so much better when I’m not ghosty pale (like I am most of the year), but whatever it is I cannot get enough.
The Matte X Lippe Stix – Cami & Pillow Talk
Lippie Stix are, essentially, a larger lip liner. That’s the easiest way to describe them.
These lipsticks are smooth (I’m talking like butter) which makes their staying power a little weaker than the liquid lipsticks, but their comfort level makes it worth it.
Both were darker on me than on the lip model on the site, but that’s not a bad thing!
Cami I fell in love with instantly, I think it’s my favourite shade so far! But Pillow Talk took some getting used to. This whole ‘griege’ trend feels a little too hip for me, but I think I can handle it.
I’m wearing Cami in the first two, and Pillow Talk in the others! I used their liners for both as well, although not the matching shades but since all the colours I bought are so similar it’s okay to mix & match.
Ultra Matte Lip – Chi & Beeper
These babies are the main reason I wanted to try ColourPop!
You already know I’m obsessed with liquid lipsticks and at $6 (American!) I am so into it. They come in so many different colours you’ll have a hard time choosing just a couple.
The formula isn’t my favourite, and you have to be really careful with how much you apply. When I wore Chi the first time I layered too much on and you could feel it, and not in a good way. Even though it lasted it had a sticky, gummy feel. I had learned my lesson by Beeper and while it’s still drying, it’s not overly so. Just what you would expect from a lipstick that’s meant to last hours.
I didn’t think I would like Chi (on the left) as much as I do now, and I think I would wear it with a brighter shirt next time. Beeper is amazing, and I already know it will transition beautifully into the fall!
Lippie Pencil – BFF 3 & Chi
These pencils matched perfectly with the lipsticks I bought and glide on like a dream. They’re not for everybody, but they do help make your pout stand out and stop feathering, which is never a good look.
If you head on over to the website and sign up for a newsletter, you get $5 off your first purchase!
And now I wait (not so patiently) for my next order to arrive! Have a brand you know I have to try? Drop me a line and (once my bank account allows it) I’ll give it a go.
