Vietnam & Two Other Unusual (And Stunning!) Places To Get Married

Paris, New York and the Caribbean are usually pegged as some of the best places across the world get married. But that doesn’t mean they are the only worthwhile places to consider!

Also, what about if you don’t want a traditional wedding? In fact, what about if you want to elope!?

The following three destinations are incredible but unusual venues for either pursuit. Read on to find out more…

Ideal for… a beach wedding

Thailand’s neighbour Vietnam often gets overlooked as a romantic destination.

This is for numerous of different reasons, varying from economic ones through to political ones. But since Vietnam has opened itself up to greatest tourism in recent years, it has been a hot destination. For good reason, of course.

It is a beautiful and culturally rich destination. However, it still doesn’t attract nearly as many visitors as Thailand’s. This may mean lower prices and better deals on wedding packages. You may also have less competition for your ideal location or wedding date. You are also in an ideal location to begin your honeymoon afterwards! Travel to neighbouring Cambodia, for example!

In terms of your wedding, make it unique by doing it on the beach! It is a little known fact, but Vietnam has some beautiful beaches. There is a small island just called Phu Quoc which could be perfect for you.

New Zealand

Ideal for… a mountain wedding

Given how distant it is from most people, and secluded it is from the rest of the world, New Zealand has to be one of the best places to get eloped.

It offers some of the most incredible scenery in the world, with dramatic mountains that will make a phenomenal backdrop to your vows. Once the formalities are done, head off on an adventure as a newly married couple. Given the landscape, New Zealand is incredible for those who love a wild adventure. Paragliding, bungee jumping and other such extreme sports can all be enjoyed. Or, if you fancy something a little tamer, you’ll find more than enough scenic hiking routes to keep you happy!

Lake Tekapo is a popular wedding venue in New Zealand, and so is Wellington.

Ideal for… a city wedding

With the glamour of Venice and the romance of Paris so nearby, Spain and its cities can sometimes be overlooked for marriage or elopement. This country too has some cities that are both glamorous and romantic!

How about Seville? This is an ideal destination if you fancy a European city with bags of character. It is quite a small city, meaning you can take it a lot of it during your trip. Plus, unlike some of the bigger Spanish cities, like Barcelona, it has managed to retain more of its authenticity.

Or, what about La Rioja? Great if you’re a wine lover, this region has more vineyards than you could possibly take in. How about getting married at once?

Furthermore, being in Europe, you can hop across to another country for your honeymoon!

What a unique list of elopement destinations! I never considered New Zealand but it’s gorgeous and airfares there have been pretty reasonable lately. We eloped overseas and it was everything we wanted– zero stress and an amazing adventure (we live in the U.S. but eloped to San Sebastian, Spain and honeymooned in Paris). We have amazing memories from the trip, super unique photos and zero regrets! I love the intimacy and fun of international elopements- I hope the trend continues! Great job summing up some awesome spots to consider- love your post! -Jo@
