Falling in love with yourself is one of the most amazing and freeing experiences ever.
Many people don’t realize that if they don’t love themselves, it makes it difficult to love others and even harder to accept someone loving you. When you finally love yourself, you’ll begin attracting the right experiences and people! It’s easier said (or written) than done and it took me a very, very long time to learn this but I can’t stress the importance of being able to love yourself.
Do Fun Things By Yourself
Doing fun things with yourself isn’t sad (unless you willingly choose seeing the latest tear-jerker alone in theatres like I did), and it definitely doesn’t need to be lonely.
Doing things with yourself allows you to get to know yourself, what you like, and what you don’t like. You should take yourself on dates to the beach, park, cinema, your favourite restaurant – wherever you want to go. Try doing this once a week and you’ll finally start to realize how amazing you are annnd you’ll learn to enjoy this time alone.
Get To Know Yourself
There are a number of different ways you can get to know yourself.
An easy one to start off with would be to start writing in a journal for a few minutes every day and see what comes up. Journals are also nice in the way that you can look back on them years later – my gramma has been keeping a journal for as long as I can remember. And keep exploring your passions and interests, the more you learn about yourself and become your own best friend, the better!
Be Kind To Yourself
Being kind to yourself is so very important.
Would you ever tell your best friend they were ugly? No! So why do we say these things to ourselves? Seriously! That always confused me. You should think positive thoughts as often as you can.
I get that it can take a long time to reprogram your brain like this, so make sure you practice and stay consistent with it. Look in the mirror and find things you love, take pictures when you feel great, don’t talk about yourself in a negative way, even if it’s to make jokes.
Treat yourself like you want the way others to treat you, maybe even better.
Work On Any Issues You Think You Have
Working on our issues helps us to become better people. You may or may not know what yours are but if you think you have a fault (we all have some) don’t be fooled into thinking you’re stuck this way. Our issues will usually crop up again and again for different reasons, so it’s up to you to identify them and get rid of them, or at least make them manageable.
There are many solutions you can use, from flipping your situation around, to using things like Reiki and tapping.
Make Yourself Feel Good
What do you need to do to make yourself feel good?
Maybe give yourself a pedicure, or spend time in a hot bath. My personal favourite are face masks! You can do whatever you like, as long as it makes you feel good. You can look online at www.clderm.com/ and similar sites to get ideas.
Be Grateful For Everything You’ve Got
Some people don’t like themselves or their lives, and they can’t get passed it.
They fail to see the beauty in their everyday lives – the things they are blessed with that other people in the world don’t have. You don’t need to have millions in the bank or look like a supermodel to be happy with your life!
Being happy is a choice.
You choose whether you’re going to be happy or not. Start looking at every single thing in your life you have to be grateful for, no matter how small.
Falling in love with yourself might not happen overnight but I think it’s worth the time. After all, at the end of the day it’s just you and if you can’t stand by yourself 100% then who is?
