All About the Lips: Janice Carol Cosmetics

“Look like you, just the best possible you.”

Fitting I saw this sign the day I met with Janice!

That’s the motto behind the Toronto based brand Janice Carol Cosmetics, a brand that I am a huge fan of and that’s not just because I’ve grown to admire the founder.

The brand carries both makeup and skincare, and the formulas are paraben free, not tested on animals and the packaging is eco-friendly. Plus it doesn’t hurt that they’re affordable and lovely quality. I know I sound like I’m gushing, and maybe I am, but I would highly recommend these products to friends of any age.

Janice and I met up for a coffee a couple of weeks ago and she gifted me with a box of goodies to try and naturally I’m going to blog about them! I’ve decided to break it down into three posts because there’s so much to cover and we’ll start off the week with my fave kind of product: lipsticks!

These liquid matte lipsticks are my fave of the Janice Carol Lippies!

This was the first product that I tried from the company back in the summer and it’s still my go-to when I’m craving the pink.

This time around Janice gifted me a gorgeous red and then a pink that has more of a coral shade to it, which is perfect for spring!

Here’s what the formula features:

  • Paraben free & mineral base
  • Bold and long wearing texture that stays true to appearance
  • Creamy rich texture
  • Glides on evenly, and does not dry out lips
  • Full coverage color application, with a smooth, matte finish
  • Smear resistant colour
  • Avocado oil promotes elasticity and adds suppleness
  • Vitamin E adds moisture and works as an antioxidant

The formula has a slightly sweet scent to it (that I love, and it’s not too strong) and certainly delivers on pigmentation. I find that it does transfer but not enough to take away the colour – picture a slight lip print on glass but no need to reapply. I would say it’s more demi-matte than matte matte and I attribute that to the oils and vitamin e because it doesn’t try out the lips at all so I’m a huge fan of that!

I love mixing up my look with a gloss, for some reason it’s my pick for a more natural makeup look. I think it’s because of the comfort, which this gloss has!

This product is also paraben free and mineral based, and has the Vitamin E to keep your lips moisturized.

Mine is a Sheer Peach Shimmer, but the glosses also come in sheer, opaque and frosty. Even though mine is a shimmer there’s still a hint of colour with the gloss and I think it’ll look great when I’m not as pale as I am now…yes, I’m already looking forward to a slight summer tan! I also think it would look great layered over a lipstick for some added shine.

These are classic lipsticks if you aren’t a fan of the liquid version!

I would say these are still more demi-matte than matte, and I love the formula. Isn’t as long lasting as the liquid lipsticks, but I find that for all formulas!

Here’s what the formula features:

  • Paraben free
  • Natural mineral ingredients include iron oxides, mica and titanium dioxide
  • Vitamin E adds moisture and works as an antioxidant
  • Aids in regenerating and restructuring damaged and stressed lip tissue with Grapeseed Oil
  • Loss of moisture is slowed down by the use of Jojoba Oil
  • Shea butter and rich in vitamin A, E and F to revitalize, soften and maintain moisture
  • Avocado Oil rich in vitamin A which promotes elasticity and suppleness

I received Fire Red, True Nude and Soft Pink.  The pink is a tad too bubblegum on me (I’m not fashionable enough to pull it off) but the red is a class I always love! My favourite of the three though is the True Nude – I’ve been really into the nude lips lately and this one actually suits my skin tone and goes on so smoothly.

And here we are – an arm full of swatches!

Stay tuned for my next two posts as they’ll also be about Janice Carol Cosmetics & if you’re going to take a look make sure you keep an eye out for the discount for new customers on the site!

These products were given to me, but all opinions and thoughts are honest & my own – as always!

Can you believe I’ve never heard of this brand before? The lipsticks sound quite good, can’t wait to hear about the skincare! AND it’s local to Toronto!
