Drake Catering Launch

When I was invited to the Drake Catering launch I will admit my first thought was: I am so not cool enough for this. And that’s what made me so excited to go!

I had met a few of the girls from Drake at The Wedding Co. Market and I had actually never looked into anything they had and I was very excited to get a chance to see what they’ll be offering with their catering services going forward – needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed (and neither was my cousin who came along, we still chat about the food).

The event has held at The Burroughes and it’s one of the coolest venues I’ve ever been to – the perfect place to have a wedding or event. I think it would be a perfect setting for a bride & groom who want their wedding day to be casual with a bit of an edge to it, it has such a great industrial look to it. And the view from the rooftop is beautiful – that’s where they were serving desserts for us and it was such a good photo op!

Here’s the thing about events that are amazingly fun: I am not the best at taking photos. Give me a kickass DJ, an open bar with delish drinks and my best friend & I forget about my phone. Not the best for when I’m really on the job, but it’s a compliment for the event somehow!

Drake Catering has a lot of food options to offer, and we were treated to quite a few different stations: Drake Fish Camp, Sneaky Tees, Fried/BBQ’D, Drake Sushi Board, Nonna’s Kitchen  and Sliced (pictured above).

Each station was hosted by a Drake Chef (who were so helpful, and talented) and there was something for everyone. My fave was Sliced (I love a good charcuterie & cheese spread), and my cousin still talks about Nonna’s Kitchen – they made fresh pasta and had it stirred in a giant wheel of cheese…OF CHEESE! I am lactose intolerant, I still couldn’t resist.

Here’s what The Drake has to say about their eats:

“Drake Catering offers a wide variety of dishes suitable to a cocktail party, large gala, milestone birthday, corporate celebration and everything in between; for every meal of the day and in a range of serving styles – passed, strolling, live cooking stations, plated meals and more. New dishes will be introduced regularly, offered alongside staple menu items. Have a specific vision in mind? Our culinary team will be able to create virtually any dish a client wishes.

Highlights include the opulent Seafood Spread, featuring a bounty of ocean treats like king crab legs, lobster, oysters, mussels, shrimp and house-made accompaniments; or the Charcuterie Spread, featuring house-made shaved and whole charcuterie, sourdoughs, baguettes and crisps, complete with a variety of mustards, cheeses, pickles, olives and compotes. Canapes, like the Octopus Tostada (salsa verde aioli, basil seedlings and pickled shallot), Pear and Ricotta Crostini (pear agrodolce, preserved Meyer Lemon relish, lovage) and the Fried Chicken Bite (tobiko, quick pickles, dill), are the perfect start before a sit-down meal that includes Octopus with Saffron Polenta and Grilled Dandelion, family-style Cote de boeuf and Whole Roasted Fish, and Fresh Pasta with Lobster Medallions.”

They also do Strolling Bites, which come in Plant, Land or Water options for the menus, and Plated offerings + Family Style.

The cocktails we had were amazing and they had customized drinks for the night but they have a drinks menu too!

I think it’s also good to mention that Drake Catering doesn’t just tackle the food and drinks portion of your event – they can help with music, art and decor! They have DJs and cover bands to choose from, you can have interactive art installations or a photobooth and a confetti system to top it all off – if you choose!

If you want full deets and more info on what they offer you can actually view the catering sakes kit online here, I think that would be a super helpful read for anyone planning an event!

I did still have my Insta stories from the night saved so it’s a bit better to see what went down – but I really do need to remember to take more photos!

These photos are from Drake Catering, but I had to include them because I know I truly did not do their services justice with my iPhone.

Thank you so much Drake Catering for having us – I can’t wait to see what else you have in store down the road!
