Skin Science with AlumierMD Enzyme Facial + Giveaway

One of my favourite things about blogging (and there are a lot of favourite things) is that I get a chance to connect with brands that I really wouldn’t get the chance to without this platform! And that brings me to my lovely afternoon with AlumierMD at the Templar Hotel downtown Toronto.

AlumierMD reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to receive an Enzyme Facial – I said yes before I even read up on it more. But of course, I’ll share what it is exactly.

So okay, I don’t need the reduction in fine lines & wrinkles just yet, but I was ready for the soothing & hydration! Plus exfoliation is great for your skin (just don’t go overboard) and having smoothing skin is the first step to a flawless makeup application – although the facial left me pretty flawless without makeup but we’ll get to that!

So off I went on a sunny afternoon to the Templar, fully ready and way too excited to be pampered even just for a little bit.

While this post isn’t about the hotel, it deserves a shout out – it is BEAUTIFUL! The suite that we were in was on the penthouse level (as the elevator promptly informed me) and it was a loft style. Just stunning! It really is a hidden little gem, as I had never heard of it, and it’s a boutique type little hotel. I loved it and would love to return one day – maybe for a birthday or staycation!

So I arrived at the hotel and signed off on the paperwork and discussed my skin issues with the pros on hand. lately my skin has been prone to breakouts, small ones but still there, but I still have dry skin. I didn’t have breakouts during my teen years so I should consider myself lucky! And then I was sent to get settled and ready for the facial.

The lighting isn’t the best BUT that’s because we were keeping cool and of course it made it much more relaxing.

So what did the facial include really?

  • Purifying Gel Cleanser
  • Balancing solution
  • Enzyme Retexturing Treatment
  • Brightening Accelerator
  • Deep Moisture Mask
  • Eye Rescue Pads
  • Recovery Balm
  • AluminEye
  • Sheer Hydration- Versatile tint

A lot of steps, but it isn’t a long process! I was in and out within the hour, and there was time for chatting and photos as well.

A little post-facial selfie because that mirror is what selfie dreams are made of.

My favourite part was the Deep Moisture Mask…it smelled amazing. All of the products are made with Skin Science in mind, meaning they have the reasoning to back up the ingredients – and they’re safe for sensitive skin like mine!

The water was changed throughout the whole process and I was talked through most of it as well – but then I was just so relaxed from the massage as well that I tuned out. The blogger in me should have been more keen on photos or chatting or something but hey, I’m human and I like a good relaxing moment!

After the treatment was wrapped up I headed downstairs to learn a little bit more about AlumierMD and what they have to offer – which is a lot!

The Sheer Hydration, which was the final step of the treatment, was really interesting to me because it helped balanced out some of my redness and protected me from the sun on the way home – it has 40 SPF! It’s very light feeling and lets you have a glow while keeping you protected, and there’s both a tinted and non-tinted version.

They also sent me home with a little care kit (the first image in this post!) that you are to use for a week or so after the treatment – super useful because you want to make sure you don’t do anything to irritate your skin.

I know this isn’t important to a lot of people but they’re packing is beautiful, which I am a fan of. Yes, I am a person who will buy something based on how it looks…you may roll your eyes at me, I know my mother and sister do.

The day of the treatment my skin was straight up radiant – I could not get over it.

About five days later I did have an awfully bad break out around my skin and up onto my cheeks and I panicked. I reached out to my contact to AlumierMD and they were so apologetic but I know you can’t really tell what the cause is! I was able to get it under wraps with an acne solution I had kicking around – and was told it could be the toxins surfacing after the treatment. My skin is back to normal mostly and while this wouldn’t deter me from getting another treatment, it’s important to mention in case you’re wanting to try something different on your skin before a big event – you never know what will happen!

Now, the fun part – for you anyway!

AlumierMD and I have paired up to do a giveaway and one reader will win two products from them – their Lotus Scrub and their (well-known!) Alumineye.

The Lotus Scrub an “evenly” exfoliating scrub designed to cleanse and smooth all skin types and the Alumineye is a rich, anti-aging eye cream that significantly improves the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and puffiness in any skin type.

This giveaway is only open to Canadian residents, and you must be 18+ or have your parents permission to enter. As always, no giveaway accounts and I do check! Giveaway ends on Wednesday June 21st at midnight EST – so you can start your summer out on a good skin note!

Good luck!

Awww I’m so glad you had fun! I have super sensitive skin so I had to turn down the facial, but it sounds amazing. Thank you for the lovely giveaway…which maybe will give me a chance to patch test the products to see if I can get a facial too!
