High Beauty: Launches in Canada + First Impressions

You know I haven’t been too into the beauty blogging as of last year, but when a really innovative and interesting line makes an appearance, I’m in. And that’s exactly what caught my eye with High Beauty.

Head to toe Additionelle, what else is new?

I had never tried products that used cannabis seed oil! I am a cannabis kinda gal (both because of my anxiety, and because it’s fun) and combining it with skincare? So cool.

Why use it? It’s incredibly nutrient dense, contains all twenty amino acids, and is a great source of essential fatty acids AKA your skin will love it – and so far mine has! But we’ll get to that in a minute.

About the Brand

As always, the brand talks about themselves better than I can and after having such a good chat with the founder Melissa, I can attest there is thought behind the messaging:

“After 30 years of formulating product for the natural and organic beauty industry, Melissa Jochim founded high with a commitment to skincare that is truly beneficial and healthy. We’re not a CBD or THC company, we aren’t here to chase a fad. We’ve found benefits in cannabis sativa that have truly remarkable results for your skin and we believe it has a place in your skincare routine.

When we learned about the proven benefits of cannabis sativa seed oil, we decided to create a brand that utilized this amazing ingredient to its full potential. Every single ingredient in a high beauty bottle is there to serve a purpose, it’s there to bring out your own skin’s highest potential.”

They’ve just come to Canada (welcome!) and are available at The Bay. Price wise, they’re on the lower end of expensive (in my books) but I do believe the quality in both the packaging and product are spot on. They have a set that I think is BRILLIANT and a great price point if you’re want to give them a try – it includes the cleanser, cream and a scrunchie.

The Products

For the full High line we have a cleanser, moisturizer, eye gel, facial oil and a peeling mask – all with the cannabis seed oil, all paraben and sulfate free and all vegan. Want the science behind it all? They cover that for you too.

I asked Melissa her fave (because I was chatty as heck) and she picked the eye gel. Because it’s a gel not a cream, it glides on SO easily (a little goes a long way) and wears well under makeup. She’s been playing with that formula since the 90s and her excitement about it (and the entire line) was tangible.

I am obsessed with face masks so that’s what I wanted to go after first but after going to dinner with my cousin and sister at our fave restaurant, Hillary and I gave the entire line a go.

And, for reasons we both cannot explain, we decided to film it. And then I decided to share it because well, it shows the true first impressions.
