Hair care: my true weaknesses. Luckily this new line is as affordable as it is gorgeous!
Kristin Ess, the brilliant mind behind celebrities that have been giving us #hairgoals for years, has launched a line with the goal of giving everyone “perfectly-imperfect hair,” which is all I ever want. But, because of my endless allergies and skin sensitivities (not to mention my bank account), it can be hard to achieve. Thankfully this line has me and my hair care covered.
Each Kristin Ess Hair product, besides being budget friendly and having gorgeous packaging, is formulated with Zip-Up Technology. Sounds fancy but it’s totally something I need. It’s a strengthening complex, designed to ‘zip up’ split ends and smooth the appearance of damaged cuticles while helping to protect hair from environmental stressors and colour fade. And since we all know I change up my hair way too often, usually involving hair dye, I need all the protection I can get.
The Extra Gentle Shampoo & Conditioner
Even though I’ve been trying not to wash my hair every single day, it’s safe enough to do that. And it’s sulfate-free which is key because I’m allergic. Plus it is the worst for your hair, I’m always begging my friends to stop using it. It’s cleansing for sure, but doesn’t strip natural oils and it leaves my tresses shiny? I’m also a huge fan that there’s no strong scent, I like to keep it simple.
Each bottle retails for $12.97.
They also have The One for all hair types, and a purple shampoo and conditioner that I would love to try as a slightly bottled blonde!
My Faves From The Line: Beach Wave Spray & Air Dry Creme
These are my favourites! When my hair dries it stays a little bit wavy, but these really help kick it up a notch to beachy perfection. Puts me straight into a summer state of mind, even if the temperatures don’t agree.
First up is the Air Dry Creme. You use a little bit when your hair is halfway to drying and, unlike a ton os cremes I’ve tried, it doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it feel greasy. And then I use a rod to touch up a few pieces, while using the Beach Wave Spray on every layer. It is SO soft! And light! And makes the waves separate while holding onto the shine.
The spray is $17.97 and the creme is $12.97.
Dry Shampoo & Blow Dry Mist
Not that these aren’t great, but they are products from any line that I don’t reach for.
I’m not huge on dry shampoo because I know how bad it an be for your scalp in terms of build-up, which can (and has on me) led to thinning hair.
I will say though that my sister is a huge fan of this Dry Shampoo, and likes that it doesn’t leave a bunch of that powdery residue hanging around that a lot of dry shampoos do.
And the Blow Dry Mist actually sounds amazing but I don’t blow dry my hair! And neither does my sister! We have thick hair and not an incredible urge to workout our arms while getting ready in the morning.
The Dry Shampoo is $17.97 and the Blow Dry Mist is $12.97
I’m not the most talented with hair to begin with, and while I’ve been enjoying the products I certainly can’t do tutorials or anything fancy! But Kristin Ess does have some tips & tutorials on her site for everyone to check out.
