I will be the first person to tell you that fashion is not my strong suit, so me buying a “statement” piece is kind of a big deal. The whole OOTD will never come easy to me, but I’m trying.
Basically every outfit you ever see has been carefully approved by my younger (and wiser) sister, my cousin (who is also my best friend and very fashionable always) or my mom.
I rarely take risks, and even when I buy something that is a risk it then lives in my closet.
So on the weekend when I was browsing my favourite Gap location in the city and came across a pink bomber coat I had two reactions: OMG I love this and I could never pull this off. I love pink, I’ve always wanted a bomber jacket, but do the two really go together? Seeing as it was on the clearance rack and the last one in stock and my size, the answer was yes.
It wasn’t the most practical buy at all. Sure it’s warm, and it’s not insanely pink, but it’s pretty shiny and “out there” as far as my style goes. So figuring out what to wear with it yesterday was a little bit of a struggle – especially because only my cousin had faith that I could pull it off. Bless her.
As far as OOTD posts go, this one won’t be as helpful as others.
Because everything I’m wearing is out of stock, or quite old. See? I would be horrible as a fashion blog. Even the lipstick which I love so much (the shade is Freckle) is out of stock, but anything you get from NUDESTIX is a win in my books. At least the clothes come from the four stores I more or less shop the most at: Winners (boots), Penningtons (jeans), Joe Fresh (mock neck tee) and of course the Gap.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I’m Team Fake It ’til You Make It.
And this applies to everything from fashion to job interviews (okay don’t lie, but you know, convince yourself you deserve it before you try convincing someone else) and certainly when it comes to my confidence.
And trust me when I say that I get that some bomber jacket isn’t a huge fashion risk, but I felt pretty flashy stepping out of the apartment yesterday morning. And then I realized as long as you look like you’re rocking it, you’re rocking it.
Clearly I still need to learn how to pose, but at least the fashion sense is coming along…right?
